A lonely road
Not exactly lost
Nowhere to go.
Impending darkness
Both surely doomed
Seeking safe shelter
Nearing sonic booms.
Headed for ruin
Destruction and chaos
Arms wide open
A holy séance.
Calling all angels
Needed deliverance
Greeting the demons
Slaying of innocence.
Forced to wander
No going home
Locked outside
Just them alone.
Unwelcomed, uninvited
Without a compass
Figuring it out
Fighting numbness.
Searching for meaning
Signs of direction
Something greater
Finding a connection .
Hand in hand
Together they stumble
Once casted aside
Now a couple.
Not promised tomorrow
Waking up dead
But young forever
As they fled.
